NEW “CELEBRATE
MOUNTAIN HERITAGE”
PROGRAM
SET UP IN BANFF
Funds Available To Partner
on New Tourism Ideas
The Banff Heritage Tourism Corporation
(BHTC) has established
an innovative new program to partner with individuals, organizations
and businesses seeking to create new heritage tourism opportunities
for visitors to Banff National Park by helping to fund new
tourism ideas.
Under the “Celebrate Mountain Heritage” Partner
program, new or unique projects, programs and special events
can receive matching funding to support communications, marketing,
staging and hosting costs. In special circumstances, projects
may be supported without matching funding support.
“Celebrate
Mountain Heritage” has been allocated up to $25,000
this year, with the BHTC expecting to provide matching funds
between $1000 and $5000 for initiatives that support the
core objectives of the Banff Heritage Tourism Corporation.
This new program will extend the reach of the heritage
tourism strategy within Banff National Park by supporting
new partnerships that grow heritage tourism opportunities
and celebrate initiatives that promote the uniqueness
of the Banff visitor experience.
The core elements
of the heritage tourism strategy upon which submissions will
be reviewed are:
- a requirement to make visitors
aware that they are in a national park and World Heritage
Site, provide a product or service that is consistent
with the heritage values of Banff National Park, encourage
environmental stewardship, strengthen employee orientation
or training as it relates to sharing heritage understanding
with visitors
- the extent to which it enriches
the visitor experience, is unique or new, provides an enduring
legacy for the community, benefits Banff National Park
The BHTC is committed to sustaining Banff
National Park as a special destination for unique tourism experiences
by celebrating our authentic natural and cultural heritage,
while encouraging
respect for the ecological integrity of our mountain national
parks. They help enhance visitor experiences through educating
front line staff and by engaging industry partners to incorporate
authentic heritage elements in their products.
